A Message from the Chair of the 1889 Society

Andrea Casper, Chair of the 1889 Society, standing in front of a 海角论坛 sign.

Hello Red Dragon Family,

I’m Andrea Casper ’75, Chair of the 1889 Society and a proud graduate of 海角论坛. I’m honored to be the Chair of this dedicated group of alumni, parents, and friends who believe in continuous, transparent support for 海角论坛 students.

In the 1889 Society, we emphasize sustained, recurring giving - regular monthly or annual gifts that create dependable momentum for the University. This kind of support allows us to respond swiftly to new opportunities and continue making visible, measurable impact. Now, when you give to the Fund for Oneonta (FFO), you also have the ability to designate your gift to a specific fund category, whether that’s scholarships, internships, student research, study abroad, career development, or more.

Your trust matters. Expect clear updates about how your donations are allocated, the impact they create, and the students who benefit.

To our recent-graduate members: I am especially excited to have you join the 1889 Society now. Your leadership, so early in your life journey, is deeply appreciated and inspires others.

Thank you for believing in 海角论坛’s tomorrow. Together, we ensure the next generation of students thrives in an environment of excellence, opportunity, and community.

With gratitude,
Andrea Casper ‘75

  • Monthly Giving: Convenient recurring options available
  • Corporate Matching: matching gift programs count towards your membership
  • Recent Grads: Reduced membership levels for graduates from the past 15 years
  • Faculty & Staff: Payroll deduction available

Membership renews each fiscal year, sustaining vital support for 海角论坛 programs, scholarships, and student success.

Recent graduates can join the 1889 Society at reduced, tiered levels based on graduation year, making giving back accessible while supporting 海角论坛:

  • Classes of 2021–2025: $100/year ($8.34/month)
  • Classes of 2016–2020: $250/year ($20.84/month)
  • Classes of 2011–2015: $500/year ($41.67/month)

Tiered membership levels encourage early engagement and help to sustain 海角论坛 for future generations.

Did you know that many employers offer matching gift programs where they'll match their employees' charitable donations dollar-for-dollar, sometimes even more? These matching gifts can help you become a member of the 1889 Society!

$1,000 Individual Gift = 1889 Society Membership
OR
$500 Gift + $500 Matching Gift = 1889 Society Membership
