The Book of Enoch

Chapter Titles

"The Book of Enoch, like the Book of Daniel, was written originally i Aramaic and partly in Hebrew.  No copy of the originals language of either is known to be in existence.  Latin and Greek versions have only, in part, been discovered but the Ethiopic Version has been preserved in twenty-nine manuscripts."

(Translated by Richard Lawrence, LL.D. Archbishop of Cashel, Late Professor of Hebrew in the University of Oxford from the Ethiopic)

Book of Jasher

Referred to in Joshua and Second Samuel:  "The title … is literally, 'the upright or correct record,' but because the book was not known, it was therefore termed the 'Book of Jasher'  this has caused some persons, who are ignorant of the Hebrew language, to suppose that Jasher was the name of a prophet, or of one of the Judges of Israel; … it is well known, even to a tyro in the Hebrew language, that the definite article,  *  is never prefixed to proper names….The important transactions which are narrated with so remarkable brevity in the Bible, are in Jasher, more circumstantially detailed as in the instance of the murder of Abel by his brother Cain…."

Book of Jubilees

"These are the words of the division ('Book of Division,' is the name by which this book is known among the Abyssinians….) The name is derived from the fact that the author divides the history he records according to the chronological system of jubilee periods."

"A translation by George H. Schodde from the Ethiopic Text.  It gives a better understanding of the work and teachings of both Christ and His disciples, as also the writings of the latter, their doctrines, beliefs and the spirit of New Testament Judaism."

The Glory of the Stars

"Twelve constellations make up the Zodiac.  These major star groupings form a belt which circle the sky close to the plane of the earth's orbit around the sun.  Modern atlases list them in the following order: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

The Zodiac is found in religious faiths and pagan superstitions.  Astrology is based upon it.  The Bible is replete with it.  The Companion Bible tells us that all the verbs in the second hall o Psalm 19 are of an astronomical nature.  The written words of Scripture parallel the words written in the heavens and are preserved in the Signs of the Zodiac."

Our Great Seal

"A 'Code of Arms' of a family or a nation is never taken lightly.  Much thought is given to the design and every detail is considered at length: the rich traditions of the past, the hopes of the future, ancestry, and Faith.  All these things and more play a part in its design.  The Great Seal of the United States is no exception.  Its emblazoned facts bristle with symbolic significance.   Symbolism is not only natural and general, but Christ Himself taught by symbols - to quote the Scriptures,

'… without a parable (or symbol) spake he not unto them.'"  page v
