The Apocalypse

Joseph A. Seiss

What is "the Apocalypse?"

Joseph Seiss observes that the title given to

this climatic book of the New Testament does

not refer to the unveiling or revealing of a message.

The "revelation" is the manifestation, uncovering, or

presentation of the person of Jesus Christ himself.

The book of Revelation is "a portrayal, not of the dim

outlines of the fortunes of the Church … but a scenic

account of the actual occurrences of that period

'when Christ shall be revealed from heaven with

His mightily angels.'"  Written from a conservative,

premillennail position, this classic work affirms the

centrality of Jesus and his coming work of retribution

and reward as the keys to understanding Revelation.
