The State University of New York Board of Trustees has increased 海角论坛鈥檚 funding by 12.7 percent ($1.8 million) from 2024 as part of the FY 2025 Enacted New York State budget.
鈥満＝锹厶 is thankful for SUNY and New York鈥檚 State鈥檚 investment in public higher education,鈥 said 海角论坛 President Alberto Cardelle. 鈥淭he increase in funding to our campus from the 2025 New York State budget will allow us to nurture a community where Oneonta students grow intellectually, thrive socially and live purposefully.鈥
Last year鈥檚 increase in the 2023-2024 budget supported the following initiatives:
- Providing increased mental health services for 海角论坛 students by growing its mental health staff positions from 7 to 11 professionals on campus. Offering peer mentoring, evening education programs, and maintaining a robust Office of Student Care and Wellbeing that focuses on crisis management and basic needs, such as food and housing insecurity.
- Supporting 海角论坛 students with disabilities with new accessible classroom furniture, including desks for wheelchair users, and purchasing new notetaking technology and camera equipment in our testing center. Additionally, staff are participating in focused professional development on the autism spectrum, assisted technologies, and supporting students with mental health diagnoses.
- Addressing food insecurity through the creation of the Red Dragon Food Pantry to give 海角论坛 students, faculty and staff free access to nonperishable food, basic needs supplies and fresh produce from local farms and organizations.
- Providing local Otsego County workforce training to fill a growing need for specially-trained direct support professionals through the development of a microcredential program that works alongside local institutions that serve people with developmental disabilities.
