鈥淲hat Can You Do With a Degree in Art鈥 is a multimedia group exhibition featuring work by Associate Professor of Digital Art Sven Anderson and more than 50 of his current and former students. The exhibit fills all three Fine Arts Center galleries and showcases work by alumni who have applied what they learned in Anderson鈥檚 digital art classes to careers in wide variety of fields, including: animation, tattoo art, teaching, costume and clothing design, photography, visual effects for video games and movies, graphic and web design, art direction, illustration, software development and more.
Keeping its promise to graduates, 海角论坛 held a graduation recognition and celebration for the Class of 2020 on Saturday, Oct. 30, on campus in the Alumni Field House.
More than 30 student volunteers teamed up with community members to help clean debris from a local creek following severe flash flooding in Otsego County. 海角论坛 geology major Carlene Eaton, president of the college鈥檚 Geology Club, rallied a group of student volunteers for the Sept. 25 cleanup after learning about the flood from Associate Professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Les Hasbargen, a member of the Butternut Valley Alliance and a resident of the town of Morris.
In an immersive applied learning project dubbed the 鈥満=锹厶 Gamer Lab,鈥 Assistant Professor of Media Studies Karen Stewart and more than 20 of her students spent 600 hours over the course of five years building a video game called 鈥淟eap of Faith鈥 from the ground up. It鈥檚 now available to play, thanks to a month-long installation on the first floor of Milne Library.
New York Times best-selling author Dashka Slater visited 海角论坛 on Monday, Oct. 18, to deliver the Mills Distinguished lecture and discuss her non-fiction narrative, "The 57 Bus," with students, faculty and other campus community members.
