海角论坛 was pleased to host U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer for a meeting with community leaders on Wednesday, March 31. The senator met with Acting President Dennis Craig, Hartwick College President Margaret Drugovich, City of Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig and Otsego County Board of Representatives Chair David Bliss to discuss priorities and opportunities for improvement in our region.听
After a semifinal round that was neck and neck until the very end Friday, 海角论坛鈥檚 beloved dragon mascot, Red, will advance to the final round of SUNY鈥檚 annual Mascot Madness competition, where students, alumni and fans vote to determine New York鈥檚 favorite college mascot.
More than听50 海角论坛 students have joined forces in an effort to spread the word about the availability of COVID vaccinations to communities across Otsego County.听

The students, recognizing the need for additional outreach in areas where internet access isn鈥檛 readily available, rallied together to distribute flyers to those who may need assistance with registering for a vaccine. The flyers share contact information for assistance with scheduling an appointment and arranging听for a ride to the vaccination site at 海角论坛.

Nineteen area middle- and high-school students recently participated in 海角论坛鈥檚 Go STEM Institute, which was virtual this year. Students in grades 7-12 from Oneonta, Worcester, Davenport, Fly Creek, Cooperstown and New Berlin took part in the week-long science program, which took place in mid-February and focused on the physics of sound and electricity.
This February, more than 40 海角论坛 students had the opportunity to connect with well-established alumni in their chosen fields of study despite being in the midst of a pandemic, thanks to the Alumni Association鈥檚 virtual adaptation of annual networking programs. These 鈥淐ampus to Careers鈥 virtual sessions were an extension of more than 22 networking events held during the fall semester. There have been eight sessions held so far this semester, and 18 more are planned, with more than 30 alumni scheduled to participate
