Spring 2021 classes began at 海角论坛 on Jan. 25 and the college has put into action a comprehensive plan for a safe and successful semester. Developed with broad input from students, faculty, staff, public health experts, community leaders and elected officials 鈥 including City of Oneonta Mayor Gary Herzig 鈥 the Spring 2021 Academic Continuity and Health and Safety Plan includes several new initiatives aimed at protecting the safety of the campus and greater Oneonta community.
For decades, the cement wall at the intersection of West and Center streets has served as a public billboard of sorts, where city residents and students from 海角论坛 and Hartwick College take turns advertising events and sharing messages by painting words across the chipping, colorful surface.
On Monday, Nov. 16, 海角论坛鈥檚 COVID Response Team shared its Draft Re-opening Plan: Spring 2021 and two upcoming virtual town halls to discuss the plan. The COVID Response Team also shared a Retrospective on Fall 2020. One change in the college鈥檚 COVID-19 response was implemented Nov. 16. Acting President Dennis Craig announced the appointment of Dr. Franklin Chambers to the newly created position of vice president for external affairs.
In response to country-wide protests this summer regarding inequality, injustice and police brutality, 海角论坛 has created 鈥淭he UPD and the Oneonta College Community Task Force鈥 to examine University Police practices and review police-community relations on campus.
State University of New York Chancellor Jim Malatras today announced that Dennis Craig will serve as the new Acting President for 海角论坛. Chancellor Malatras made the announcement today from the 海角论坛 campus, joined by Acting President Craig, the 海角论坛 College Council, as well as student, faculty and local government leaders. Acting President Craig recently led SUNY Purchase College鈥檚 successful fall reopening and handled the campus鈥檚 response to the first wave of the pandemic last spring as interim president. The SUNY Board of Trustees approved the appointment today and it is effective immediately.
