º£½ÇÂÛ̳ kicked off the 2022-23 academic year with a host of events to welcome our newest Red Dragons, celebrate returning students, faculty and staff, and engage the entire campus community in a spirit of optimism and excitement for the weeks and months ahead.
Following a national search, º£½ÇÂÛ̳ announced Aug. 9 that Dirk R. Budd has accepted the role of Chief of Police for the college. His appointment begins Monday, Aug. 15, with a swearing-in ceremony at the college’s new Emergency Services Building.
Beginning its fifth year this fall, the Medical Scribe Program lets º£½ÇÂÛ̳ and Hartwick College pre-health students apply what they’ve learned in the classroom by working as medical scribes at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. The program is believed to be the first scribe partnership between baccalaureate institutions and a health care facility.
º£½ÇÂÛ̳’s campus is anything but quiet this summer, with 40 students engaged in research projects covering a wide array of disciplines, from anthropology to sport sciences. With the help of 16 faculty members, students from 15 different majors are getting hands-on experience, working in the lab, mentoring local children and more as part of their research. They will present their findings during a special showcase Sept. 8-15 in Hunt Union.
As a staff scientist working at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, Class of 2017 alumnus Mike Engesser was an integral part of the impressive team behind the James Webb Space Telescope.
